This is a cooling water bleeding method of Honda · Vamos. This car is very hard to remove the air of cooling water, it takes time and trouble, and if it fails there is a danger of overheating. Here, I will show you how to blow coolant air while monitoring the cooling water temperature information from OBD II with the smartphone application.



Inject cooling water (LLC)

Jack up only the front side of the car and hang the rigid rack. In that state, loosen all bleed air bolts of cooling water in the engine room. Remove the radiator cap from this state and inject cooling water (LLC). When injecting until all cooling air comes out from all bleed air bolts, all boring bolts should be tightened. In addition, put the cooling water in the sub tank of the radiator to FULL water level.

Start the engine and start bleeding

If you can do so far, build up everything as it is, check the engine oil and cooling water, and start the engine. In case of carrying out large-scale maintenance such as engine OH or when restarting the engine when leaving the car for a long time, crank it with the engine ECU fuse of the fuse box removed. Then the fuel is cut, the crank rotates and the oil pump operates with the sparks not flying. Please crank this until the OIL lamp in the driver ‘s seat meter disappears.

When the OIL lamp turns off, set the ECU fuse again and start the engine. If the engine rotates with a smooth sound, it is successful if it is properly blown up. As it is, bleed air of cooling water enters.

Until the electric fan rotates more than twice

Turn off air conditioner and set it for inside air circulation. Make the heater fully open and let the blower motor idle with maximum airflow. It may take at least 2 hours or so, but wait patiently and wait patiently. There is no water temperature gauge installed in Vamos, people with expensive diagnostic machines or a built-in water temperature gauge can monitor the water temperature as it is, but who has no intuition? What? You seem to have to rely on it? !

Monitor water temperature with a smartphone application

Monitor the water temperature using KUFUNG OBD II Adapter and its corresponding OBD Auto Doctor – OBD 2 car diagnostics tool, an Android / iPhone compatible application.

Attach a dedicated adapter to the OBD 2 terminal installed on the vehicle to be used at the time of failure diagnosis of Vamos. You can leave the engine hanging at this time. Turn on the Bluetooth connection of the smartphone terminal and wait for a while the link screen will come up and make the setting. Water temperature is displayed on the screen.

There is an OBD 2 terminal at the lower right of the passenger seat, so connect the equipment there.

Connect with the application according to the attached manual.

Water temperature will be displayed on the upper right side of the screen. (Screen is 53 ° C)

I will continue to idle the engine while monitoring the water temperature and carry out air bleed. The water temperature will rise with time, but if the electric fan does not rotate even if the water temperature reaches around 95 ° C or more, stop the engine quickly, leave it for a while, loosen the air bleeder and cool down ( LLC). If air is chewing, in most cases air will come out when loosing the breeder. Then tighten the breeder again to start the engine and continue air bleed. Repeat this process until the water temperature stabilizes at around 80 ° C ~ 86 ° C. When the electric fan turns, the water temperature drops sharply. But the important thing is to keep water temperature until it stabilizes.

When the water temperature stabilizes, stop the engine and do a radiator cap. Leave it overnight and if it is a little lower than the FULL water level of the radiator sub tank in the next morning, the air removal work is over. After that, trial run and if there is no abnormality bleeding is successful.
